Bosnia and Herzegovina welcomed 285,986 tourists in the first quarter, marking a 2.5% increase compared to the same period last year, the BiH Statistics Agency has reported.
Tourists spent a total of 637,403 overnight stays, which is up by 0.8% from the same period in 2023. Overnight stays by domestic tourists rose by 1.8%, while foreign tourist overnight stays saw a modest increase of 0.2%.
Domestic tourists accounted for 35.1% of total overnight stays, with foreign visitors making up 64.9%. Of the foreign tourists, the largest group hailed from Croatia, comprising 30.7% of all foreign overnight stays.
Visitors from Serbia made up 19.1%, followed by Slovenia at 8.3%, Turkey at 5.8%, Montenegro at 4.2%, and Germany at 3.1%, while other nationalities collectively contributed 28.8%.
The majority of overnight stays—95.1%—were in hotels and similar accommodation facilities.
