The country’s response has garnered international praise, particularly for extending temporary protection status for Ukrainians until March 2025.

With nearly 10% of its population now consisting of registered refugees, Montenegro’s small size underscores the scale of its humanitarian effort. In addition to Ukrainians, thousands of Russians and Belarusians have also arrived, attracted by the visa-free regime and cultural similarities

The non-profit shelter Pristanište, based in Budva, plays a critical role in helping the most vulnerable among these refugees.

Offering temporary accommodation for up to two weeks, the shelter provides essential services like assistance with danaocumentation, housing, and job searches.Â
