In a move signaling further consolidation of the Balkan food industry, Croatia’s Atlantic Grupa has struck a deal to acquire Slovenian company Osem, best known for its nostalgic Kekec pâté brand.

The deal, made through Atlantic’s local arm Droga Kolinska, awaits regulatory approval, with Slovenia’s antitrust body expected to scrutinise the impact on competition—particularly as Atlantic already owns Argeta, one of Europe’s leading pâté producers.

Osem, the last standing firm from the defunct Pomurka food empire, brings 1,500 tonnes of annual output and 45 employees into Atlantic’s fold.

Its owner, Miroslav Flisar, nearing retirement, chose Atlantic for its brand stewardship and export muscle.

The acquisition underlines Atlantic’s ambition to scale its delicatessen segment and penetrate deeper into foreign markets.

With modernised but underutilised facilities, Osem offers Atlantic both heritage and headroom for growth.
